Manifesto User Manual 2.07

Stylesheets

This is the most complex aspect of managing the site. By default, a single stylesheet from the "base" group is loaded for every page on the site (specified in the Site Prefs). In addition, module-specific stylesheets are loaded as needed, or as specified in the module's preferences.

The stylesheet editor allows you to modify and create your own stylesheets. Stylesheets titled "Default," or whose filename is "default.css" cannot be edited (to ensure that you always can fall back on a working stylesheet). To create your own stylesheet, click to "edit" the default stylesheet, and then hit the "Clone" button to create a working copy. Give it its own title and filename, and get to work!

Modules will always attempt to load a module-specific stylesheet with the same name as the current site stylesheet, and will fall back to using their own "default.css" if no other is present. So when you create your own stylesheet, be sure to create copies with the same name for each of the modules, if you wish them to maintain a consistent look.

There are a number of ways to manage your stylesheets. In addition to the built-in editor (which can be awkward for massive changes), you can simply upload an external stylesheet (from your browser, or by specifying a local file to parse).

When editing a stylesheet, there is also a hidden "Batch options" section that allows you to make quick changes across the entire stylesheet. You can rename whole selectors, clone them, or do batch modifications to properties or colors.

The color block icons will cause a window to popup containing a large array of color patches for easy selection of colors. Click on a color to have its value automatically put into the appropriate form field.

A more detailed discussion of stylesheet creation will be included in its own section of the documentation.
